"There's Reefer Madness, instructions in the event of a nuclear attack, Fred Flintstone endorsing Winston. Can anyone think of a word that might summarize this?"

Not one word for all of them, because each one belongs in a different category....The Flinstones cigarette ad is a commercial, Period. A nuclear attack film would be referred to as either ephemeral, or an instructional/educational film. Reefer Madness is what it is.....a B movie (I don't think it was really ever intended to belong in the ephemeral category....it's campy drama with a message).

Why are you trying to come up with a categorization/definition for these? Are you attempting to reclassify them here on this site?

I'm organizing my files. As I said in the original post, the collection consists of movies that originally intended to send a serious message, but now seem comical. They're campy, misinformed ("get under your desks"), and generally funny to watch now. Most come from these archives, but from various categories.

Just about anything made by Comedy Central back in the 90's could be classified as that! Hmm. I can't wait for George The Butthead to lose his powers, then I can start laughing at the inane claims made by some films I've seen uploaded by 20-something potheads on IA.
